Who we help in Sri Lanka
- Graduates from Sri Lankan and foreign universities looking for their first professional role.
- Professionals moving up to senior or management roles in Colombo and across the island.
- People applying overseas to the UK, the Middle East, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Canada and Europe.
- Returners coming home to Sri Lanka after working abroad, who need to show their international experience clearly.
A Sri Lankan CV and an international CV are not the same
Many Sri Lankan CVs follow a traditional format: a photo, NIC number, date of birth, religion, marital status, a long "objective" and a list of duties. That format can work locally, but it often holds people back when they apply overseas.
| Detail | Traditional Sri Lankan CV | UK, Australia & Europe | Gulf countries |
|---|---|---|---|
| Photo | Common | Leave it off | Often expected |
| Date of birth, religion, marital status | Common | Leave them off | Date of birth sometimes included |
| NIC or passport number | Sometimes | Never | Usually not needed on the CV |
| Nationality and visa status | Rare | Only your right to work | Usually expected |
| Opening section | "Objective" | Short professional profile | Short professional profile |
| Length | Varies | Two pages | Two pages |
These are general conventions, and individual employers can differ. Tell us where you're applying, and we'll write your CV for that market.
What we change on your CV
- We replace lists of duties with results: what you improved, saved, grew or delivered.
- We write a professional profile that says who you are and what you want next, in three or four lines.
- We explain local qualifications and employers so overseas recruiters understand them, for example by adding a line on what a company does or what a qualification is equivalent to.
- We use the keywords from your target roles so applicant tracking systems pick your CV up.
- We remove personal details that overseas employers don't expect, and keep the ones they do.

Applying to the Gulf?
Kuwait, the UAE, Qatar and Saudi Arabia are the most common destinations for Sri Lankans working abroad. Gulf employers expect some details that UK employers don't, such as your nationality, visa status and notice period. Our Gulf CV format guide explains what to include for each country, and we can write your CV for the Gulf market.
LinkedIn profiles for Sri Lankan professionals
Recruiters in Colombo and overseas increasingly check LinkedIn before they call. The Professional and Recruiter packages include a LinkedIn profile rewrite that matches your CV: a headline that says what you do, an About section that tells your story, and the keywords recruiters search for.

Can I pay in Sri Lankan rupees?
Yes. Prices are shown in rupees for visitors in Sri Lanka, and you can pay by local bank transfer in LKR. Card payments are also accepted.
Do I need to visit an office in Colombo?
No. Everything happens online, so it works the same whether you live in Colombo, Kandy, Galle, Jaffna or anywhere else. You fill in our order form, upload your current CV and answer a few follow-up questions by email. Your finished CV arrives by email as Word and PDF files.
Is a CV the same as a resume?
In Sri Lanka the two words are used for the same thing, and we write both. Strictly, a resume is the shorter, one-page style used in the US and Canada, while a CV is the one-to-two-page document used in Sri Lanka, the UK, the Gulf and most other countries. Tell us where you're applying and we'll use the right format.
Can you write my CV for a job in Dubai, Qatar or Saudi Arabia?
Yes. Gulf employers often expect slightly different details from UK or Australian employers, such as a professional photo, your nationality and your visa status. Tell us where you're applying and we'll follow the conventions for that country.
Should I include my O/L and A/L results?
For jobs in Sri Lanka, and for school leavers and recent graduates, A/L results are often worth including. For experienced professionals applying overseas, we usually summarise them in a single line so the space goes to your degree and work achievements.
Can you make two versions, one for Sri Lanka and one for abroad?
Yes. Tell us in the notes when you order. Many of our clients need a local CV and an international CV, and we'll quote for the second version before starting.
How long does it take?
Your first draft arrives within 3–5 working days of payment, or within 48 hours with express delivery. If an express draft is late, we refund the express fee.
